Nous avons l'or rectifié et la richesse pour le travail dur!

I think the Australian national anthem should only be sung in mangled French.

Just because it would sound funny.

I was surprised to learn, with all this anthem controversy, that Star Spangled Banner was written about an event of war too.

" Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"

Admittedly that's from the third verse, which apparently no one knows. The first is a little less... Featuring of the word "blood."

Kinda makes Advance Australia Fair seem pretty lame. I mean, on top of everything else that does so. At least Waltzing Matilda has a bit of death in it.
