Damnit
I think Fridays are not my day...
But, judging by how last week turned out, Sundays are my day!
Here's looking forward to Sunday!
I think Fridays are not my day...
I think I need to get a job again. Obviously I've been saying this for some time, but now everyone I know seems to be getting them... Like... I think Mirza mentioned something about it... And there was some tutoring thing someone mentioned.
I think I just had a dream in which there erupted a fashion for going into public places and dancing in a really dodgy, untalented, arrhythmical, David-Byrne-like way in front of random buskers. That was odd.
I finished my first of two Philosophy essays! Woo!
And I'm refering to the blog, not my brain.
Today I was reminded of the funniest thing I ever made
Today I finished reading the damn long Illuminatus! Trilogy. Leaving aside any comment on the Anarchist/Libertarian philosophy pushed by the book, I would have to say I found it a damn good read. The start and end were both great, and the middle was exciting enough to keep me reading (though sometimes sporadically.) That being said, I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone. I don't think I've ever read a book with a stream of conciousness/multiple narrators thing going on before, and that was certainly one of my favourite things about it, so perhaps if I'd read more Joyce or Woolf I would find that aspect less novel. But, anyway, I liked it, and now this blog entry is over.
Nothing like a good episode of Monty Python to refer to in a blog entry, thus making the previous blog entry go further down the page. I mean, to make one feel better.
I feel a bitty crappy right now:
About two weeks ago Kate and I broke up. In much less neutral language, she broke up with me. I probably prefer the more neutral version. The truth is, I didn't mind too much, certainly not at the time. Her reasons were perfectly sound; that our relationship had petered off into nothing, and there was little point staying together. I agreed with her. To some extent, I'd wanted this to happen. It was no surprise - I figured it had to happen some time; I just never had any idea what day, month, or year it might happen. We parted amicably, of course, and I next saw her, probably the next time I left the house, at a shindig a few days later. (And, of course, still see her often.)
As I said, I didn't mind much at the time. I had a thoughtful, possibly nostalgic, but not particularly unhappy night that night. The next few days were a bit worse, exasperated by the fact that I didn't leave the house much (holidays), which can make one a little lonely. The nights were worse than the days, for obvious reasons, but all in all it felt like possibly the least painful breakup possible (Not like I'm too experienced in these matters).
A week and a half later, I declared myself well and truly over it. I was perfectly happy again, life was good. Anyway, that might have been premature, because now, I feel pretty crap. It might be some combination of having a slight stomach ache, and stress from a few upcoming essays, but I suddenly feel excessively lonely, bored, and angsty. Although, frankly, writing this has helped. Woo! Blog!
When I was lying in bed, mentally composing this entry, I never got around to thinking of an end. So I'll just end here.
This MSN "What I'm listening to" feature is crazy. One day it's working, the next it just decides not to!
Just to photocopy something... Even though I have a five hour break in classes tomorrow.
I think I might write a decently lengthed blog post thing today, because something I read elsewhere got me thinking.
I think, after 6 years at Fort Street, and, for that matter, 2 at Summer Hill, I subconsciously came to the conclusion that jocks do not exist, at least not in Australia. This probably isn't a usual use of the word jock, but I'm thinking here of the kind of well-rounded, socially relaxed, "normal" person. So the typical jock would enjoy sports, do well enough academically, look neat, follow fashions, drink moderately, except at parties, etc, etc. These people would relax around other people, not worrying what other people think, and be able to just act themselves, confident in the knowledge that they, "themselves," are boring enough not to offend anyone. They wouldn't have any unresolved conflicts with anyone they regularly see, they would be perfectly cool, etc.
But there just didn't seem to be any at Fort Street. There were some pseudo jocks, but they were just dicks, and seemed to have as many deep-seated emotional problems as anyone else. There was that other group too, but they never really crossed my mind.
But now, at Uni, I'm coming to believe that there are actually heaps of them. I see them all over the place, immaculate looking people, chatting away with to comfortable groups, looking generic, doing passingly well in their bachelors of Commerce/Science/MainstreamArtsSubjects. If their casualness is just a veneer, they seem awfully good at making it. It's probably just a recent burst of insecurity, but I start to wonder if these people are actually the kind of Normal, well adjusted people one hears about.
Incidentally, everyone that I've actually met, and conversed with, at Uni, is more of the overachieving neurotic variety, but that could just be because that's the only kind of person I actually talk to. Who knows.
Well, anyway, that's a long post for you. You asked for it! Well, you didn't really, but I felt like forcing it upon you anyway.
Today I downloaded a bunch of stuff, As Per Usual.
