I recently updated my version of Firefox and discovered, to my pedantic dismay, the following!:

Previously, after hitting the middle mouse button to bring up that little round I Am Teh Scrolling Down The Page Now Plz thingy, when you scrolled over some text, while your cursor was in Pointer mode, it would continue looking like that unless you moved it... And, of course, vice versa; if you scrolled over a blank bit while your cursor was in Texty Thing mode, it would stay like that.

But now!!!!: For some reason, with this update, the cursor changes to whatever the mouse is over even when you're in scrolling mode.

This makes me so mad, I could boil some babies!

I just saw an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast in which he "interviewed" David Byrne. His voice... Sounds better when he's singing. Or maybe he just had a cold that day or something.

In related news, David Byrne is a more diligent blogger than I. But then, he calls it a Journal. I can't pull off that kind of pretention when I'm hosted by a site called Blogger.com.

I really can't escape Quad Philosophy Room S249.

I first met it on the Usyd Open Day in 2003, when there was a Trialy-type english lecture in there. Then I think I avoided it for a semester... But in semester 2, 2004, I had Logic classes in there, with the inimitable John Bacon. And the next semester, I had me some Philosophy Of Law in there.

The semester after that I thought I was free of it, but no... Though Syntax started in the chemistry lecture theatre, it soon moved over to good ol' S249 for... No particular reason. Now this semester, after having all kinds of annoying enrollment kerfuffles I've found myself doing Media Discourse (A really great course, as it turns out, or so it seems so far)... And it's in... Yes! Quad Philosophy Room S249!

Aaaah, memories.

I had a crowded day today!

First I woke up, spent ages getting out of the house, but managed to do so eventually and got to the city by 12:30ish. I was looking for a Required Text for one of my courses, Truth And Truthfulness. When I got there, there were hordes of old people waving tiny Australian Flags at other old people. I looked for my book, but couldn't find it in 5 bookstores... Except Kinokuniya, who only had a really crappy looking copy (Looked second hand or something) for $72! Which I thought was probably exorbitant, so I didn't get it. I'll try, like, Gleebooks tomorrow.

Anyway, when I tried to leave the city, in a bit of a rush because I had just been informed of an emergency meeting I had to attend, I realised the buses wouldn't be running all the way up the street due to this queen nonsense. To make matters worse, as I passed Town Hall I was confronted by the sound a rat reciting bible verses. Luckily... This, too, was to pass, as I got out of earshot.

Aaaanyway, I eventually made it to uni, the meeting was postponed until after my lecture, and I lost interest in telling this story, because the rest of it is pretty unexciting. And then I found $20!

Damnit, I don't think that Sparks album did come out here on the 7th. I think maybe it did in the US. I can't find any kind of information about an Australian release anywhere. This is what I get for not just illegally downloading it. *sigh*

Today I stood in a queue for 80 minutes, for a transaction that took less than 2!
But at least I have my enrollment all fixed now.

I also had my first lecture, on the Origins Of Analytical Philosophy.

Unfortunately, not far into it, the lecturer started talking about Kant.


Seriously, whenever anyone talks about Kant my mind shuts off. I really can't have trouble following it. I can usually grasp some idea of what his ideas are views are are, but never understand exactly why he has and holds them. I should probably, like, do an actual course on Kant some day.

But anyway, luckily most of this course isn't about him, and he probably won't get more than a few mentions for the rest of the semester.

Aaaaand now I get Tuesday off. Hurray for Arts!

Today was a very good day! I had a picnic, witnessed the extremely fabulous result of a friend's haircut, played some frisbee, wounded my foot, watched some Firefly, and had some most delectable dinner. Hurray!

Tomorrow I start uni...
